Cant remove HT lead cap from plug??

Im having problem removing ht lead from my 1995 e220, m111, w124 , the lead comes of with rubber boot connected, but leaves a plastic like cap on top the spark plug....which i cannot remove, i have already broken top a bit..its like a hard brown plastic!....any ideas please??

Is there any threaded part left which may look as if it had unscrewed from the rest of the cap ? Maybe disconnecting the whole lead and trying to screw the cap down onto the piece left to see if it gets a grip ?

I presume you can't get the plug spanner on over this part to remove the plug with it ?

I know what you mean.

with the top broken you now need to grip it with Moles grips or similar and as you pull, also twist it.

they are about £10/13 from Merc.

Yea i rung Mec and going to collecet a couple of plastic caps, but was wondering how your ment to get them off without breaking them?? should i try grip the rubber boot with the the plastic cap inside tightly and try to pull them off together maybe?? I scanned the internet and seems to be a kinda tool improvisation you can use...god knows!...lol

really do not see what the problem is if you twist as well as pull.

unless someone has been there before and bodged the system by fitting non standard parts.
