Hello Friends

My car aerial doesn't fully go down anymore, had problem before, oiled it up and it went down ok. Can you tell me does the arial on the old C-Class unsrew to take out to lubricate it? Also does anyone know if there is a replacemnt I can buy like the little rubber aerials.

Thanks

Yup a replacement aerial mast will cost under £20 from any main dealer, and is a 5 minute job to fit.

oiled it up

When you have your new mast I suggest you keep it clean, rather than lubricating it. I wipe mine down periodically with kitchen towel & methylated spirits.

Any kind of oil or grease will attract dirt and grit, leading to poor electrical contact between the sections and more rapid wear.

Make shure you are buying a genuine replacement mast made by Hirschman the one for the W202 as you call old C Class has H11 on the tip. There are many copys and fakes out there which stop functioning quick or even start to rust so be aware

Yup they are cheap enough from a main dealer, no need to risk any other source (eBay etc) where you might be getting a lower quality copy instead.

Just checked ... my OE Hirschmann mast was £18.42 incl VAT from the main dealer, couple of months ago.

Most Welcome

The only lubrication ever uesed on these was white grease, and nothing else
