Hi,

This is probably going to sound really strange but...

does anyone here celebrate the "birthday" of their car? By birthday I refer to the the day the car was manufactured but I suppose if you cannot find this out, then the date of 1st registration would be acceptable.

On my car's "birthday", I tend to tank the car with the very best diesel I can find, give the car a complete valet from a high quality detailer (and not the local £3 car wash guys), before spending the entire day in each others undisturbed company on a nice long drive.

If you are brave enough to admit similar tendancies, please feel free to describe your car "birthday" day :)

I've only have had used cars but on the anniversary of me getting them I take them for a fast fun drive.

Every year at the cars first reg date I realise it's decreased in value

In a funny kind of way, I see where the OP is coming from on this. However, I have never done anything special for my car on it's "birthday".

A few years ago, a friend whose car was beyond any repair and was only fit for the scrap heap actually held a funeral service for his car. :)

Hi drsingh, I also celebrate my car's birthday. I have calculated (guessed), it from being 10 days from the first date of registration.

Each year it normally gets a thorough clean and a drive in and around the countryside here in Somerset but last year, I treated it to a new OE exhaust from front pipe backwards. Also, new brake lines, new fuel lines, new brakes and discs, new shocks, rear sub-frame shot blasted and powder coated, de rusted the underbody then new underseal applied - the list just goes on and on.

This year I am having the front underside given similar type of treatment. The handling of the car was transformed and of course, with all the expense, it's a keeper.

Categorically not, no.
