Car clocker jailed after making £190k in fraudulent business

A CAR clocker has been handed a 32 month jail sentence - the highest custodial penalty handed down in a prosecution brought by Luton Trading Standards to date.

Francis Quinn, 46, of Coles Close in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, was sentenced for being the mastermind behind a fraudulent car clocking business - an illegal process which involves reducing the mileage on a vehicle to increase the value - on Monday (June 19).

Luton Crown Court heard Quinn, who pleaded guilty at a hearing on November 23, 2016, had clocked 27 vehicles over an eight year period - resulting in £189,778 unwarranted profit.

His uncle, John McKenna, 70, of Dunstable Road, Luton was also sentenced for money laundering after paying £12,650 for two of those vehicles.

Reminds me of the Enfield 'clocker' questioned by the police who claimed it could not possibly have been him, as he was 300 miles away in Walthamstow:....:dk:

"clocked 27 vehicles resulting in £189,778 unwarranted profit."

don't do crime if you don't wanna do time like a caged animal
