Car
clk320 2001
hopefully someone can help me out
i drive a clk320 auto 2001,sometimes while going along the road or at stand still,
the car seems to lose gear like its in neutral just revs even though its still in d mode it cures its self if i switch off and restart could it be the maf at all car has done 200,000 miles many thanks

Most likely low gearbox oil level. When was is last changed? Very important to keep on top of it.

not sure when it was changed have only owned car for a few weeks but can i just top up the atf without a full fluid change

Fix the leak and change the ATF. That's the best result.

could it be the crank sensor causing it as well the car drove perfect for 3 days with no issues then it just revved and engine light came on i let it cool down and engine light has gone out

^ That's not a symptom of a failing CPS. Failing to start a hot/warm car is CPS fault.

Get someone to look at it before throwing money and parts at it.

Mine was doing exactly the same m8.
Low atf in the box, it was leaking from the multiplug in the autobox and weeping at the cooler pipe. A local indie sorted mine for around £250 including a run on diagnosis and a couple of other little bits......
Eventually you will lose the gears all together and restarting won't help.
