My daughter has just been made redundant and will lose her company car

So she is in the market for a car. Nothing flash, but large enough to take her and b/f and my 1yr old grandson and all his accompanying kit - ohh and somewhere to squeeze the dog in too...

Needs to be a well sorted and relaible card which has been well looked after..

I'm asking here as I know sometimes members have wives cars they want to change or even a well sorted W124 estate???? Budget is not a great one at c£2.5k.

She lives near Middlesbrough and I live on Suffolk, Norfolk border. Would obviously want to make arrangements to view/test..

I don't have a specific car to sell to you unfortunately, but just to recommend a car make/model: Citroen Zsara 2.0HDi diesel estate. It's often overlooked, but the diesel is a very good engine and the car represents very good value for money IMHO.

Good luck.

Plenty around for that money.

Can't do better than a Mondeo for good honest motoring. You should be able to get a >2002 TDCI for this money although may be highish on miles. Avoid the TDDI.

For cheap motoring I would say stick to Vaxhaul or Ford.

When her situation changes maybe look at changing again.

An alternative if she is hopefull of finding another job quickly is to lease something short term (12m?) At least then you get something new and hopefully very safe.

Good luck

A decent 202.

C250TD is an excellent car.

Cheap, safe, newish, cheap to service, better bet than an old 124...

get a low mileage 190e like mine- just done 25k in 18 mths no problem. Cost £1500. I had an astra- I used it like a Mercedes doing 85mph for 15000mls-it blew up on the m20 just after the Dartford crossing-I had the AA tow it home and I didn't sit in it again-my dad sold it. The w201 190e is the best Mercedes ever made for everyday use- they are destined to double in price in the next 2 years. They are not expensive to buy or maintain and better than any astra.

Shes gone for a Focus 1.9 TDi ghia (typical woman must have toys) 53 plate 1 owner 85k miles (warrented) £2990....... Will do her for a couple of years. Thanks for your suggestions.

Don't think you can really go wrong with a Mondeo, Focus, Vectra, Astra etc etc.

Loads of the ex reps cars available, all with full service history etc.

EDIT- didnt see your last post!

My sister and family have just emigrated leaving me their 51 plate 2.0 Petrol Focus Estate to sell.

I've literally not even looked at the thing yet (they only left this morning) but it's in pretty good condition and has a new MOT and no problems.

Let me know if this is something you might be interested in.

i know of a lovely W124 230 estate for sale for £795, its done 202,000 but has full service history!
