Hi All

Car is a W168 A Class.

The Coolant light came on and was Yellow. It then went out.

After driving for over an hour, suddenly the car started hesitating. Pressing on the accelerator it was very jerky reaction. Almost bunny hopping.

I used a cheap code reader. Code is P0355. Crankshaft Position Sensor A malfunction.

I've cleared the code. If be grateful for any advice.

I was thinking I would top up the coolant and see what happens.

Low coolant is not related to a Crankshaft position sensor (CPS) fault.

I would be looking to have the car scanned with Star and, if shown to be faulty, change the CPS before it failed and either caused an engine cut out or starting problems.

Thank you

How much roughly would it cost to replace a CPS?

I have no idea.

That would depend on the cost of the parts (on my C320 petrol the sensor was around £100) plus fitting/labour charges.

These vary a lot between garages and also depend on how difficult it is to get to the part. A specialist would have likely carried out the job before and be quickest.

This garage has a very good reputation: Wayne Gates Specializing in Mercedes-Benz Servicing & Repairs
