I got a letter from the AA the other day. On the envelope it said "Look inside for a great quote!".

I had to phone them and ask if they'd forgotten to put the great quote in the letter as the quote they sent me sucked.

Okay, I know that different companies are going to differ by a certain amount, and I know that I live in a higher risk area but still, the AA quote (and at the end of the day, it's just a front for other insurance companies) was £570!!!!?! more than my current insurer.

and my current insurer isn't any niche specialist from the back of Max Power, it's just direct line.

The woman on the end of the phone asked me lots of questions to check it, but even she couldn't tell me why the quote was so high.

looks like direct line is going to get my business again, for the 7th year running....

I checked with the AA.... they wish to apologise.

There was a printing error on your envelope.

It should say "..... great BIG quote"

Gave up asking for quotes from the AA years ago as they were always ridiculously high - seems nothing has changes. I suspect they are postcode sensitive and mine does not sit well on their list.

I tend to check on one or two comparison sites... each year I change insurance companies and each year I've been cutting at least £200 off my premium for each car... (remember I'm only 23... so I've only had to insure cars in England for 4 years now ;))

If we continue like this, in 3 years I expect insurance companies to pay me to insure with them ;)
