..well, won't start :( and stuck in my garage .. which doesn't help matters !

Very disappointing .. never had this on any of my 3 mercs !

Was hoping not to have to put Mobilo to the test, but this will be my first experience with them !

They were called 15 mins ago ... lets see how quickly they can sort it !

Is it just dead or does it turn over

All lights up .. doesn't seem to be a DAS problem, no sign of a flat battery, but won't turn over ... small noise from starter motor when key turned to fire it, and then nothing.

Either a dodgy starter or a battery issue I suspect.

He will probably bridge the starter via the purple wire on the front sam to see if it turns over.

Watch the "quiick test" performed by the Star. If you have not seen oit before it is interesting.

Oh well - just called to say they'll be here in 30 mins ... what's the fix if its a dodgy starter ?

I have just priced one up from MB for a 270cdi.

Hope your sitting down.

£482.65 +vat!!!

You can get a Bosch equivalent for around £200.

... and they can pay for it, as I've only had the car for 2 weeks !

Thanks guys .. will now be able to astound him with my knowledge when he turns up :)

I could be a dodgy ignition switch also.

Blown fuse?

I keep thinking.........

You have put some fuel in it since you got it haven't you??! :D

A shiny silver Vito has arrived .... watch this space !

Battery test showing 12 volts, but is stating 'Replace Battery' ...! Hmmmmm

South African battery now removed ... he's off to the dealer to get a replacement ! :(

LOL .. all fixed ... new battery has solved problem, and all fault codes cleared.

Didn't realise the later 203 saloons were still made in South Africa ... thought was just the early ones ... oh well .. happy ending, this time !

S.

Phew ;)
