Seen a honda FR-V at main dealer - turns out that the last owner was a private person, and the 1st being Arnold Clarke.com

Looking on the web, they are some sort of car supermarket outfit - any idea why they would have registered a car to themselves as 1st owner?

that's was my initial thoughts - may give them a call and see if they can tell me. the Honda dealer who has the car now couldn't understand why it was necessary to know - i just like to get an understanding of history before shelling out the dosh!

Some Hondas are imported from Cyprus (via Japan) and sold on in this country... both countries driving on the same side..

Check it has a EU conformity certificate - if it has then there should be no problems.

If you are really keen on Hondas have a look at Bob Gerard website. Have bought through them twice in the past....good people to deal with

They are probably the biggest dealership in Scotland, with branches across most of the country comprising most of the major manufacturers. Arnold Clark himself is one of the richest men in the UK. Not sure why they would register a car to themselves though? My MB was pre-registered when I bought it, but according the the V5, I am the first owner.

Sir Arnold Clarke to you. Knighted for services to the motor industry.

Not for services to the motoring public that's for sure.

After the fast one his robbing b-----d service personnel pulled on my wife don't get me started.

i'm going to see the honda dealer on the weekend, so will check the paperwork to see what's what. left them a small deposit in the meantime to secure the vehicle

At any time they will have quite a lot of cars registered as demonstrator/staff/courtesy cars.

They also have a car hire division.

As my MB must have been, but according to the V5, I am the first owner.
I suspect it has been a hire car.

Yep I'm with DRUK when I lived in Scotland I had an horrendous experience with their Prestwick branch, complete cowboys and definitely robbing b******s tried to rip me off big style, paid the deposit on a car then when I went to collect it they had removed some of the extras and the interior fascia panels had been changed to scratched ones. Needless to say they coughed up my deposit and I went to Parks In Ayr and bought a Volvo and they treated me like royalty. Anything Arnold Clarke have had their hands on I would steer well clear of based on my experience.

Arnie is the main car leasing supplier to the Fire Service , and no doubt many other organisations . Besides that he has a self drive hire division .

The car in question could well be an ex-lease or ex-hire car ...... 1 careful owner ; 1000 careless drivers !
