Long and short of it is new consumer laws have passed that make it far easier for buyers to get refunds, in the case of new cars if there is a mechanical fault within 3 months of ownership you have the right to reject the car, if it's longer than 3 months but within 6 months the dealer has one Chance to rectify or you have the right to reject.
