Car Stopped Accelerating

Hi guys.
Have a C240 with 38K on the clock.

Today I went to overtake someone, I put it into "S" mode, floored it beyond the click you get after fully depressing the pedal and went past, the car then stopped accelerating ( or so it felt like ) and I had to pull over, restart the car, then it drove fine as usual.
No lights, no codes. The car did not conk out at all, it just felt like it had stopped accelerating.
ATF levels were fine when I checked them recently, no issue with engine oil either.

Any ideas ?
MAF sensor was replaced a year ago with a Bosch unit.

Perhaps throttle position sensor ? Fairly sure when I stopped the car and tried revving the engine nothing happened.

Mercs don't rev when in Park. Unless the situation happens again I'd put down to a glitch or just your perception...

Sorry I meant it was in drive and nothing happened even though I was trying to accelerate

Sounds like it dropped into limp mode ? Maximum 3k revs . The restart reset the fault

Yeah I am aware of limp home mode however from what I can remember it would not rev at all.
Been for a long drive now all seems ok, hopefully a one off. Thank guys
