Car Swap

Folllowing on from some of my more interesting posts, or should I say 'those that caused controversy' (for which I normally offer an apology), I have come up with an interesting proposition. I own a very modest (IMHO) Mercedes. I am aware that some folk have even more modest ones, some of which I am extremely envious of. The older coupes look great. And whilst lying in the sun today, and comtemplating a change, I thought about a kinda Car Swap. i.e you have mine for a week and I have yours, or two weeks etc.
Now clearly there would have to be some legal implications.................................cue IMADOOFUS! , and I would imagine some rigorous insurance policies, and indeed a lot of gentlemen agreements(treat mine as I would etc.) but can we have a brainstorming session on this topic to establish if it is possible. Am sort of thinking out aloud if you get my drift. If it's been thought of before then I apologise.

And I know you guys and girls with 06 plate convertibles don't want to get involved, so there is no need to slag me off for the idea.

Yeah, am the same, but if we all embrace it, with the same ideals, it could be cool. Imagine turning up to work in a different Merc each week/month whatever. In fact, that is the slogan..........' GO TO WORK IN A DIFFERENT MERC'!!!!!!!!!!

lol... Its a wonderful idea, i like it... its similar to those car sharing schemes... But would be really hard to do... I get a little peed when my brother borrows the car... And we all know how most of us treat cars that don't belong to us (rented, courtesy cars.)

Anyone wishing to borrow the comedycar is quite welcome. i have idemnity forms that will have to fill in. I am not having your loved ones suing me for you dying of laughter whilst driving it.

now now, there is no need for that. i was just thinking that the bicycle is a little more boring, and frankly, less dangerous then the comedycar.

Or does it have to be car for car? am sure some ex-bikers may have like the chance to ride some of the members bikes here if they were willing to swap car for bike type things.

No offence Timmy, but my beloved Coupe would have to be prized out of the hands of Her Who Thinks She Owns It . Apart from which I dont even let my son or daughter get anywhere near the keys so I am afraid the Coupe is out. Now the 260E Yep you could take that, rust and all. I could do with an insurance claim on another members policy

As I think I pointed out previously, I'm not a lawyer. Besides, anything I post on this forum must always be read in the context of the fact that I rarely have much idea what I'm talking about.

And finally: To say in this thread that you're after something a little less boring probably isn't the best way to get people to swap with you. If you want to use my car for a bit, then I'll take yours as deposit (with V5), as well as another £8,000. I'll then (kindly) not drive your car, but I will charge you £500 per day to drive mine. You provide insurance and fuel (you'll need plenty of that).

How about "wife/girl friend" swaps whilst we're at it as well then for weekend....
