Scam just came in to my home email box to say my road tax is not valid because the payment that was taken did not go through due to my account being empty .And for me to click on a link in the message to pay again with my credit card if i did not, then the car will be clamped or even scrapped . Load of rubbish my tax payment was taken in March . So look out scam about.

Damn it , I've been rumbled already

I prefer to ring old people and tell them their sky subscription direct debit has been cancelled. Easy way to get credit/debit card payment from them :D

Since lockdown, I have noticed an increased number of scam emails.

If you have the funds, go with direct debit and no more worries.

But fewer unsolicited phone calls, in fact I’m starting to miss the lady who tells me my (non-existent) Amazon Prime account is about to be charged £39.99.......

I got one the other day in the form of a text message supposedly from the 'DVLA'. "You're due a rebate on your car tax, follow this link". Yeah right, haven't sold the car and recently paid the tax in full back in March. I've never received such a text before so I suspect they are trying new scams to target vulnerable people during these difficult times, disgusting.

I actually received a physical letter through the post. Saying if I was able help then I would be entitled to a cut of the funds.

Desperate times :)

Had an email this morning saying Tesco were offering free shopping for April!

Just a heads up

Tried to tax a vehicle yesterday but couldn't do it as it needs an MOT next month. Having read further it transpires that although you're getting an extra 6 months it won't show on the system until a couple of days before or after the expiry/renewal date

Exactly. I was getting a bit concerned last month when I couldn’t tax my car from the beginning of this month (MoT expired 30 March). It wasn’t until the 31st March that the system let me donate funds to the DVLA.
