26mpg for the unladen trail over 622miles @ around 60mph, and 25mpg at around 50 mph with weight of car on trailer. Normally does 31mpg on it's own

Another thing to watch is the towed weight exceeding the towing vehicle weight!

That's impressive : the slightly older Defender 110 Tdi I used to drive was considerably thirstier .

Just implying that a 1750kg car + 980kg trailer possibly/probably weighs more than the towing car ie one 90 Defender

How is that an issue? My car, like most others, can legally tow more than it's own weight.

I didn't think it was an issue either but was just saying that my towed weight most probably exceeded the towing vehicles weight in response to Tony.
