Hi All,

I’ve got a Mercedes c350 2013 remapped. Since I’ve bought it I’ve had this issue where when I use cruise control on the motorway (about 75mph) after some time I can feel that the power has gone I.e the turbo is not operating, my fuel economy drops and when I put my foot down it’s very sluggish, doesn’t pull. Also the flappy panel won’t let me change gears when this happens. There’s no engine management lights on either. Once I turn the car off for abit and turn it on again it’s fine, but when I go on the motorway again and stick it on cruise control same thing happens.

I’ve taken it to the garage, initially they said it’s a fault temp sensor so got that changed cost me £225, it happened again, second time they said it’s a build up of soot so they did a regeneration and now it’s happened again. Has this happened to anyone and does anyone know or could give me any advice on the matter?

Many thanks,

Did the garage read the codes using STAR? Are they Mercedes specialists?
What did the 'regeneration' involve?
Who did the remap and how many miles has the car done?
Are the wheels and tyres stock?

Hmm I’m not if they used that, but they are Mercedes specialist. He told me he changed the temperate or something and ran the engine hot for a while. I’m not sure who did the remap, the 2nd owner did it, I’m the 4th owner. The car has done 100k miles. The wheels are stock and I’m assuming the tyres have been changed over time.

If they done a diagnostic test they should have had a report - ask them what the results were.

Otherwise get the car on star diagnostics, while you may not have a check engine light on, that doesn't mean the car is trouble free.

Mine flags codes that don't trigger a check engine light, but I can tell it's not running right. On the other hand, my Golf GT has suffered from sticky vanes/a sticky actuator which leads to the wastegate allowing to be open and boost to infinity and beyond...

In these instances the electronics tell the boost valve to give no boost, no EML is illuminated and I had no power...remedy for me was to free up the actuator rod.
Fortunately your car has an advanced ECU and other control units which will log a fair bit of data...that'll be your answer is.

Nice one thank you for the detailed reply much appreciated. I’ll take it to the garage and ask them for a report.
