Hi All

I bought a C Class 2.7 CDI 10 months ago. initially it was an old dog, but with a new boost sensor and a replaced injector, it is now wonderful!! getting 54MPG on long runs.
But
some eejit pulled across in front of me last week, and in avoiding him, I ran the car over a log someone had put on the edge of their lawn. log was 14 inches long, and about 12 inches diameter. needless to say, the car took off over the top of it (the nice Kerb launched me skyward) and it then had fun rolling along the bottom of the car. drove it 1/2 mile home ok.
needless to say, Insurance have written off the car, but I have bought it back to see what I can do.
initial look underneath shows broken exhaust bracket between centre sections, broken radiator, possible bent anti roll bar, and bent lower suspension arm from hitting the kerb.
drove back today from garage where it was inspected (1/4 mile from my house) and it ran very badly. turbo cutting in and out, so engine ok, then no power, then ok, then no power etc. lots of smoke from the back end and generally heartbreaking :0(
so, a question if I may. could the really bad engine be caused by the fact that the exhaust centre sections had separated and misaligned?
seems strange that it worked after the crash, but not now.
any thoughts on this will be appreciated.
and just to say, well impressed with the build quality of the car. it took a big hit, with very little damage.
so all pretty straight forward.

Maybe some bits were cannibalised while at the garage, on their assumption that you wouldnt want it back??

Get it on a star. It's the only way you will know what the cause is.
