I have a leaking injector on my 2001 C220 CDI. There is a fair amount of carbon build up around the injector and the glow plug. What is the best way to remove this to be able to change the injector and glow plug?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

You really need some special tools to remove the injector. It is not really a job for the DIY mechanic.

I'd just like to remove some of the carbon to try and reduce the labour charge (time) when the car goes in to be fixed.

I have a similar task to do on my Sprinter, and having read many forum replies on this subject, one commodity that was highly recommended and I shall be trying out will be household oven cleaner, which is left soaking the carbon overnight, and no doubt will require the judicious use of rubber gloves. But anything that makes the job easier will be worth the extra care needed. No doubt others will be along with other ideas for consideration. Best of luck !!

Just chip it off and hoover it up. Simple!

Nitromors was another advocated elsewhere - being careful not to get it on the plastics.
