Managed to blow my driveshaft
Has anyone ventured into carbon shafts Weistec or other?
I don't need much of an excuse to go shopping in California.
Cheers Mike

How/where did you blow it? You'd typically break the traction well before the prop shaft.

AFAIA Weistec only do a carbon prop for the C63, not the CLK as in your details, and then it's more of a weight saving device than for extra strength.

I'd be questioning what went wrong with the original, as these things don't usually break, even when throwing a fair amount of power at them.

Hi thanks for the replies.
I'm yet to investigate the issue in depth but the opinion of our company mechanic is that it's the driveshaft that's failed. This happened on the return leg of this summers eurotrip when the car developed a nasty knocking from the offside rear.Thankfully only 30 miles from home after covering 3000 miles on the trip.
The car is due back in at DMS for a few more Weistec tweaks this month and thought if the option was available I'd go with carbon shafts at the same time.

8 week lead time on shafts for the CLK if anyone's interested.

Wow. Sorry to hear about your prop shaft issues and as a CLK63 owner I will be following this thread to learn more. I will re-read some of your posts, I recall you had LSD but I don't recall much mention of extensive tuning, but I could be wrong. 8 weeks is less of lead time than I might have expected. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Cheers the car is running at 725 hp at the moment with the Weistec stage 2 charger whether this has caused the issue is unknown at the moment but will keep you posted.

Thanks I'm really happy with the stance and the ride on the kW suspension .

My c63 has Kw coilovers they are superb, has your car been reliable running big power apart from the driveshaft?

Yes totally fine goes through a little more oil and petrol than normal but the experience is worth the cost I love it :).
I was considering a new model this year and eagerly awaited the arrival of the new c coupe.
What a let down :( So it's a few more mods on the CLK and maybe a GTs or Black in a year or so.

craig darrah is pushing slightly more and has been blasting his down the strip and v max etc and hasnt had a prop issue
