Carjacked now Recovered

Hello,

My keys were taken forcibly and the car driven off. It has now been recovered by The Police (so grateful to them).

I have the spare key but am afraid the thief still may have the stolen key.

Can I have the car lock and my spare key reprogrammed at the dealer, so the stolen key no longer works on the vehicle?

If not what are my options and the cost involved?

The vehicle is C200 W204 2007

I think you can have the stolen key deleted at the dealers so it won't work. They are the best people to speak with to get your options.

There is also the emergency key which is not electronic and can not be deleted.

It will allow the car's doors and boot to be unlocked but obviously the car can't be driven away with the emergency key.

If the insurers are involved then you could ask for all locks to be replaced (MB Dealer job), but it is expensive so if you pay for it yourself you might want to just get the electronic fob deleted.

I would get insurance to replace the lot.

this will include ignition modules etc

they may however just pay for deletion of the old key from the system and new key programmed in.
