Do things like this actually work? Anyone got one or one like it and use it ok?

Depends on which head unit is fitted. They are not compatible with the NTG 5*2 COMAND unit fitted to our 2016 C250D Premium Plus. There are a few other threads that discuss this if you search the forum.

It’s been 100% perfect. Never on eve failed to connect instantly.

Our C Class doesn’t have Apple CarPlay. The dongle is just a way to get a wireless connection.

No ours doesn’t have CarPlay. Our iPhones connect wirelessly via Bluetooth so no dongle needed for that functionality.

Ours too. But I assumed the thread was about a dongle to enable a wireless connection to Apple CarPlay?

I think there’s some confusion here. The 2 links on this thread are for an adapter to convert a ‘wired’ Apple CarPlay system into a ‘wireless’ Apple CarPlay.

Your vehicle needs to already have Apple CarPlay to begin with.

I think it was an option you had to pay for, whereas the previous models never had.

Yes it was a factory option with NTG 5.5 (our 2019 car has it). But as mentioned it's a cable connection, not wireless.
