Cat converter warranty ??

The MB guys in the good old USA tell me that cat converters are under warranty for 80k miles or 8 years which ever comes first.
Is this the same in the UK? If it is I will be reclaiming my £750 for a new cat last month!!!

I reckon you'd be lucky to get an 8 year warranty/guarantee in the UK.

IIRC it's something to do with equipment associated with emissions control as I've heard something similar regarding other smog-related parts (air injection relay was the thing I had in mind).
