I think it's probably a Designo option but I've seen quite a few 1997/1998 cars with the same interior. Literally everything is covered in leather (sun visors & dash board).
I've also seen a few cars which have had trimming done afterwards and in my opinion it detracts from the car and isn't original.
I have a SL60 myself which has Designo paint and interior. The paint alone was around £4k and the interior another £4k or so so was extremely expensive at the time!
