Are insurance quotes obtained using comparison sites still accurate for vehicles recorded as CAT s?

What do toy mean accurate? The quotes are full blown offers of insurance. Click through and look at the extras not included though on the base quotation if you didn't filter for all add ones.

I mean will they be taking into the account that the vehicle is Cat S? As I have heard obtaining insurance for such vehicles is more difficult than usual.

Have you declared it? Not sure if insurance companies cross reference that data.

I don’t have the car I was just having a look on ebay for motors and the thought crossed my mind.

Well go onto Compare the market and do a quote, see if you can declare.

No mate they don’t cater for cat n/s you will need to call the insurance company direct once you obtain the most favourable quote. And then tell them and they either will/won’t insure it.

Totally right, the data doesn't flow through and you cannot add, did a comparitive check on 'Compare the market' on a clean and S category AMG GTs. Both came back with the same price.

It makes no odds whatsoever; I’ve insured numerous insurance write-offs over the years.

All that will happen is that if the car gets written-off in your ownership they’ll value it as a previous insurance write-off (circa 30% less)

Are you sure ?
I thought Cat S was a structural repair, and would attract a higher premium ?

Yes, I’m sure. I’ve had multiple insurance wrote-offs over the years that haven’t attracted a higher premium.

You will receive a lower payout if your car gets written-off though to allow for the lower initial value.

Go on the comparison site and enter the reg of the Cat S and then if possible get the reg of another identical non-cat car and submit that to see if there's any difference in the quotes. Then you will know for sure just by seeing the price difference, if any. Seeemples. :)

Thanks guys. :)
