anyone replaced the catalyst on a E300td W210. if so how did you manage
or what tool did you use to close the spring clip that joins it to the pipe
from the turbo. spent 1 1/2hrs today trying without any success

I havnt done it but normally work most things out. Post a pic of the clip///

You need to buy a new spring clip from the dealer. I think it's around £18 and it comes ready to fit, i.e. with the spring clips separated. It just pushes over the dished washer arrangement between the cat and downpipe, then springs closed when fully fitted.

If you're talking about the clip that comes fitted already to the cat then I used large mole grips to pull the spring clip and washer together, then tapped the tabs in with a hammer.

BTW, If you've bought a non-Merc Cat, good luck! Been there, done that, couldn't make it fit! Bit the bullet and fitted the genuine one.

thanks dunx its a merc 1 been removed to have some wealding done on the
pipe.
