catalytic converter warranty in THE UK

Can anybody tell me about catalytic converter warranties.

I bought this car from an auction, Am I eligible for it if the car had done less than 80,000 miles.

(People in the US suggest a warranty should cover if catalytic converter fails in less than 80,000 miles)

I believe this only applies in the USA.

I had to have one replaced when my vehicle was 4 years old (S500, 21,000 miles). The dealer managed to get a 50% discount from Mercedes head office.

Strange thing is they told me both needed replacing. When the 50% discount was agreed they changed their minds and said only the left one needed to be changed

Anyway the right one is now rattling so I guess I'm in for a huge bill to replace that one

thanks a lot guys.

there is another BM catalyst on teh market. I am not sure which one to choose as called MD dealer yesterday and he quoted £750. I am not going to pay this much at any cost. i ill go for a better quality non branded one.

any suggestions which aftermarket cat is best.
