CD COMAND system with MP3 changer

On the US Merc Forum one chap says the following....

"You don't need an MP3-capable COMAND to use an MP3-capable changer".

Has anyone tried to fit an MP3 changer to their CD based COMAND system ?

I know there are several posts on here that says it can't be done but I'm not giving up hope yet.

Please someone say it can be done (firmware upgrade ?)

Nope, cannot be done as the new MP3 cd changers are MOST based and incompatible with the CD based comands. In case you are wondering I have tried it and it does not work at all. Aslo unfortunately there is no new firmware upgrade for the CD based comands other than the last one MY01.
