hi guys
recently bought a 2003 c220cdi sports coupe & have noticed that when i play a cd in the audio 10 cd player after a couple of songs if you take out the cd it is red hot !!!!!
this seems very unnatural to me, any ideas ???????

Is the CD you are playing an original or copied?

Might be worth cleaning the laser with a CD cleaning disc in case the laser is struggling.

the cd's are original, will stick in a lens cleaner and see if it helps, thanks for your reply.

Are the CDs clean as well...

Some (older) CD players get very hot because they are struggling to read copied CDs.

However, if the laser struggles for a long time for whatever the reason (due to dirt etc.), the unit will get hotter.

If you are running a clean laser and CDs, I would imagine it is either normal or something more sinister is at play.

I used to run copied CDs in my previous Saab against the advice of the manual (I copy on the slowest speed to mitigate) and they got quite warm.

My CD's are also very warm when they have been playing for a while..
They used to get hot in the "Audio 20" I used to own and they still do in the Comand NTG 2.5

maybe it's normal then
they are ok on a short drive playing an album is fine but if it's a long drive then they become very hot !!!
oh well, think i'll get the parott system & use my ipod, lol
