CD player won't take disc

Hoping someone may be able to help.

I ejected a disc from my CD player, but it failed to pull in the new one.
It now refuses to take a new disc at all.
Not sure if I'm just unobservant, but there now is an MP3 logo next to the compact disc logo on the screen.
I am unaware of it ever being there before, as I was unaware the car had
MP3 (cannot see any jack point on the console)

I have thoroughly gone through the manual, but cannot find any reference
to an MP3/CD function.
Car is a 58 plate 280 SLK ( R171 facelift) Q-tronic
I use only shop-bought pre recorded CDs

The MP3 logo could be referring to MP3 CDs as apposed to audio file CDs (the kind you would have on a shop bought CD)

If you have the code, maybe try pulling the fuse and resetting it?
