CD Slot not accepting CD's

Does anyone know if there is a way of repairing faulty CD slot on Comand 2.0E

All of a sudden it stopped accepting CD's.
I.E. When you insert a CD in the slot nothing happens, it should grab the CD and load it.

It's in a Pre-facelift w203

Yes sure there isnt one loaded. I can force the CD in but wont grab it.
Tried eject and nothing.

I'm sure you have tried and it is highly possible there is a serious problem but it has been known for a CD to jam inside and because it is stuck then pressing the eject button won't work.

I have not look in the innards to see if it is possible to visually check, I am writing this aftere reading numerous threads of emabarrassed owners who swore there COMAND was jammed only to subsequently find the 'jam' was a CD. I do accept though that this may well not be the case.

Does it make the sounds as if it is trying to load or does it do nothing at all?

Sounds like the same problem we had on mine Alex .....knackered cd drive!

He's going to purchase another unit if this one cant be repaired.
