Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole However, it's a comfort to know that the engine is up to it.

I'll have decisions to make early next year by which time I'll have taken the S class from 34k to nearly 100k. Decisions as in sell or keep and go for the mega mileage.

I still wouldn't buy something with huge miles on, not just because of the engine but all the other moving bits which have moved just a little too much in it's lifetime!

It's definately not worth the asking price but if you could get it for under a grand...........

Wouldnt touch it with that mileage. Normally a high mileage wouldnt bother me but not THAT high!!

I've got one of those! Not that many miles though - 139,000.

Maybe its worth £800 but one thing to remember is that it isn't likely to be clocked. They are not hiding anything.

The engines are bomb-proof as this car shows.

If it was clocked back to 185,000 and someone drove it - they'd buy it.

Far too much for the millage I would say, I honestly would not know who would buy that.

Many many other cars with much much less miles for the same price.

Would be quite cool owning a tidy MB with 1/2 million miles on it

To be honest, 210s are tough cars mechanically. Strange how people woud probably buy one with 50k miles, pay a premium for it and then find out it's riddled with rust.

Must have been looked after well - looks fantastic and let's be honest, it wouldn't have clocked up 545k if it'd been poorly serviced or abused. Makes my 195k mile 300TE look silly!

Surprisingly for the mega miles it still does not look bad. No ovbious rust (although there must be some somewhere), no fogged up front headlamps and even the driver seat and steering wheel are not even half as bad as some with a 1/4 of that milliage.

£1000 and its worth it the last owners have had there money out of it

looking at the pis again the drivers seat looks in very good order

I agree with others, I'd give no more than £1,000.
ETA: OR...I'd buy his lovely CL55 AMG Kompressor for the full asking price with the E320 CDi thrown in for free :D
I'd then run her into the ground, seeing how many miles I could pile on until she becomes uneconomical to repair! :thumb:

I wouldn't buy it either, although i have to say that the previous owner has maintained it well.

I wouldnt run away, but it whould have to be VERY CHEAP! i think a grand is a bit low as the W210 diesel estates still command quite a high price, but i wouldnt pay the asking price, no where near it.

history would be very important - i'd want to see all servicing done when it should be and also documentation on other non-service wear & tear parts. i'd want to see lots of things replaced so i know other stuff that isnt engine related will withstand the mileage.

if its cheap enough and it runs ok and the history is ok, then its just a digital number on the dash at the end of the day.

It seems pricey - but makes me smile at the thought that I'm thinking mine's getting on a bit at 130k!

I'm with you 100%. We were practically the only people to recommend DrNick buy the high mileage 210 a few years ago and it gave him two years of happy, low-cost motoring.

IMHO there are only so many things that can go wrong on the car and if you check through the history you will probably find that quite a few things have been replaced over the years. There is something refreshingly honest about a mildly-scruffy über-miler that's worked hard for a living and been rewarded with regular maintenance. Someone's been under that car every few months so things don't get missed and are fixed in time to prevent damage or future problems - not like a low mileage car that seen a couple of MOTs and a service every 24 months.

My W202 C230k will pass 200k within the next 3-4 months and although it's had it's fair share of problems (strange miss-firing issue, gearbox coolant pipe corroded, aircon condenser leak, exhaust manifold cracked, starter motor cable snapped and a sprinkling of rust) none of them were directly related to mileage and with some preventitive maintenance (supercharger recondition) coming up soon I hope to run it for at least the same distance again.
As Shude, Dieselman and many others have said, High Milers Rule! :D  :bannana:

puts my 402k to shame lol.

This just shows u look after ur car and it will look after you!

Got to be atleast half that price not a huge spec either.

Why not go with yours and ask for a part exchange deal. :D

I posted recently that my brother in law is now driving an E320cdi with 660,000miles on it.
It drives very very well and he's already clocked up £10k travelling to france regularly, but it wasn't picked up for anywhere near £3k!

I think if I was MB, I would buy it clock up another 500k on it and put it in their museum as a million miler in 5 years time!
