Hi all

Can anyone please offer some advice? When I lock or unlock the doors on my W203 estate (2002) the front passenger door lock is playing up. It does actually lock and unlock but when activiated by the remote or the dash button the lock repeatedly 'bounces' up and down a few times.
This has just happened out of the blue and I'm hoping someone knows a quick fix????

Cheers in advance

Unless the button is sticking up it needs a new lock unit.

Wow, quick response as ever dieselman.

How do you mean the button sticking up? It does move up and down but does seems to be reluctant to do so. Also if I try to push it down with the door shut it won't lock. Could this mean something else?

It's 99.99999% the lock unit is faulty. It doesn't see the door as shut so pops back up again, or the mechanism is duff inside the unit.

Hi quasarman How did you get on with the lock i have the same car with the same problem it doesn't to look that hard to fit a new lock just 3 screws ond out but some say you have to move the window regulator?

This is a VERY regular thing, the pass door lock jumping up and down like a mad-un.

A2037200335 door lock unit. £78.14 retail

Hi Robbruce, I had a look at the rubber thingy mentioned above but to no avail! If as mentioned by parts specialist this is a very regular thing perhaps someone could post a how to...

I had come to the conclusion of leaving it for now, largely because I've read somewhere about drilling out rivets to get the unit out and I don't have a rivet gun to put it back but now am thinking is this necessary????
Also what price to members please partsspecialist as I live in Stockport...

If I do end up replacing the unit myself anytime soon I will take some photos and do a how to for the forum..

PS Robbruce your mileage is impressive - over a million miles already!! Hope my estate lasts so well, he he! Seriously though have you had it long/suffered any other problems? I have a crackly rear right speaker doing my head in at present.
