central locking problem

hi everyone

i have a problem with the opening and locking the doors as i wasnt given a fob when i bought the car as previous owners just used the key which is a problem as the only way i can lock the doors is to press the button on the central console from the back and also exit the car from the back then i have to basically open the doors from the front passneger side door as the front drivers side door doesnt have a key lock in the handle so its a kind of annoying thing to do

now im sure the car has a manufactors fitted locking system on it so i basically want to know what fob or remote i need as i cant carry on doing this make me look like im robbing me own car lol

please let me know (its a mercedes c200 m reg 1994)

I think that the first thing to do is to get an original keyfob that contains the remote opener

Sadly they are £150 from MB only

ah no dont really want to be paying that much tbh as i dont really want a alarm if u get me i just want something i can open and lock the doors with

just found these 2 pics on my laptop and this belongs to a mate the fob and he told me i can have it if it will work and would it ? as i dont now he has the same mercedes as me but his is a r reg

Its the right key but the are car specific and cannot be re programmed.


yours will work with the key once you have fixed the locking

he said the bottom end of it has a little circle which goes straight into his igntion without key its infrared or something like that and he said the top end needs a key in it which i dont understand

so your saying this cant be reprogrammed ? if thats the case i think i shouldnt take it

If you are using a metal bladed key, then your car had a awful alarm that many people have taken out as it was so unreliable, the first thing to do is to listen to see if the locking pump runs when you turn the key in the doors.

The pumps only run for 18 sec at any one time or cycle

well ever since i bought the car i was just given the one key and its called a master key thats what my mate told me and to be honest mate im not bothered about alarm just need the bloody locks to open without me doing so much as its just a pain in the ****

if the drivers door just had the lock in the handle would have made things easier but instead its got a red infrared little screen on there like so i dont really know what to do

a mate said its best if i got a whole alarm done all over again but i dont want to be spending to much
