chain or cambelt for 300SL?

Does my 300Sl - 24 have a chain or cambelt? The manual talks about 'arrangement of the V belt'. Is this a cambelt? And whatever it is will it need replacing? thanks

The m104 engine in your car has a timing chain.

No Mb that I'm aware of which has a cam belt.
The belt referred to in your manual is the fan belt on the front of the engine.
Most decent places will give it a quick inspection whilst servicing your vehicle.
When they do snap, they won't cause your car any damage like a cam belt will, you'll just lose your power steering and alternator charging.
