Hello Everyone, With the spout of hot weather we have had, I decided to retrieve my Challenge, Portable Air Conditioner, from deep within my garage. It is 7 years old, and started it's life on the eBay page hosted by Argos. It has been exceptionally perfect until last year. For some reason, last year, the air conditioner decided to think that the room was 16 degrees C, even though it was baking hot, and my digital room thermometer was reading 26 degrees C. It then was very erratic and was going down to 1, then 10, then 8, but never above 18 degrees C, so the compressor would not kick in, and thus would not cool. I resolved this, by blowing a hair dryer (don't ask why, but it worked) into the secret panel (as pictured). Believe it or not, the temperature reading became accurate and started blowing cool again. This year, as the weather has got warmer, it is doing the same; however the hair dryer trick no longer works. Now I ask, is there anyway to bypass the sensor within the unit, to make the unit think it is always above 18degrees C, so that the compressor is always engaged? I am lead to believe the sensor is somewhere within this panel, however I could be wrong. Comments and advice would be appreciated. Kind Regards sallison1504
