Change Clock Time Without COMMAND unit?

My Command unit has died and I am considering a double DIN replacement. However the clock on the dash is changed by COMMAND. Does anyone know a way to set the clock by other means? Or does anyone know how to stop the clock from showing on the dash?
Is there a lead to connect a Kenwood after market unit straight to the merc wiring?
Any Advise welcome!

I guess you set the comand as "not present" with star diagnosis and then you can change time from cluster!

Ah....I wonder if that would work? Does anyone know for sure if this will allow setting of time from steering wheel?

Funnily enough, I took a Kenwood navigation system out of an A class this morning. It was interfaced to the cars existing wiring and the CANBUS too so the steering wheel controls worked (sort of).

The car will be coded to take the time from the head unit so you will need to get someone to code the car so its not taken from the head unit.
