I have a CLK 200, and am getting fed up with the sound coming from the rear speakers. Anyone recommend a decent replacement, and instructions on how to remove the rear shelf to change the speakers. Thanks
No! That's half of the problem. If I can get the speakers out, I would easily change them. You need to get the parcel shelf off before you can get to the speakers.

I had removed the Parcel Shelf in my former W126 S Class to replace the speakers with new upgraded ones. I should imagine that thr procedure would be sort of similar (however I could be wrong).
1. Removed the Rear Seat Lower Bench by pulling on catch that was located at the lower corner of each side. The lower bench of the seat was released and I unclipped it out of place carfeully.
2. The top half/backrest of the seat was bolted in on hinges with screws (one on each side and one hinge located in the centre of the seat). The screws had to be removed. I was lucky that the rear head rests' spines were integrated in the seat theerfoe making it easier to remove, however on the W208 the setup may be different).
3. Once doing the above (you will need a second person with you to do the next step) you just simply lift the seat upwards and gradually pull it out (be carfeull that you do not scracth any of the interior/paintwork when removing the seat and taking out of car (this will eb difficlut on the W208CLK as only 2 door).
4. On the W126 the Parcel Shelf was fixed down with 2* Screws that were visible in teh First Aid Box storgae area intergarted into the rear shelf. Not sure about W208 but check to see that no screws are holding/fixing the shelf down!
5. Once all screws/fittings have been removed that hold the shelf down (again u you will need a second person to help you) you gradually pull the shelf out, BUT will have to rasie it slightly to detach the speaker connectors fromt he wire/cable (one peson will have to support holding the shelf up whilst the other unclips the speaker connectors). Once doing this the shelf shall be free to be carfeully released by pulling it out (but be carfeul not to bend/damage it). The speakers will still be fixed to the shelf and can be released afterwards/or before.
6. Installing the new speakers should be easy and just follow the steps above in reverse order to put all back together. However, make sure that the replacement speakers do not have big cones that will prevent the shelf going back in. When slotting the shelf back in there will be 2/3 clips that you can see from the boot to ensure that it is corretly realigned.
