Hi guys/gals,

I have a 2002 E270CDI W211 which I use as a daily car. I need to install another headunit as the audio 20 cassette doesn't have bluetooth or ipod capabilities.

I purchased an Pioneer App Radio headunit but when I went to install it I found that the car has fibre optic.

Is there an easy way around this as I want to install another headunit and be able to use the steering controls. I have done a lot of research into this and some people have suggested a dension gateway or upgrade to a newer command. I actually want to change this. I think I will have to run new cables to the back where the amp is located but I need to know the following. :dk:

1) wiring colours of speaker cables
2) how to adapt steering harness
3) If this is even possible

Thanks in advance

Danny

Update

So I traced the cables from behind the amp which run through the floor. I cut the cables from the front passenger door rather than run loads of cables into the boot. The live on the back of the head unit was a constant live so used the ciggerette lighter socket as the switched live and all seemed to work.

The only thing left is I need to sort the aerial as I can only get BBC Radio 4!

On the main 4 way power connector to the AGW is a thin blue wire - this needs to be powered up from the headunit's antenna feed to turn on the antenna amplifiers
