Do I need to copper grease the back of the pads? It is a S430L 2002 Im also replacing Disks. The pads are Apec and have come with all the sensors and metal backing plates!

Thanks in advance

Are the pads MB OEM ones? If so, they come with instructions telling you wear to put the grease and also come with a tiny tube of it too!!

Personally, I think it is personal preference as to copper greasing the backs of the pads or not. I have found that the MB ones don't need it.

No there Apec ones, Ive given up now due to only one of the four pins coming out the others do not want to budge even with a healthy amount of WD40 maybe another day?

i personally would copper grease them up to stop any squeeling.

Hit the pins with a large punch first to jar them free and move them the first couple of mms, then use the smaller punch to tap the through the rest of the way.
I always grease mine shimmed or not.

I would say, it is always better to copper grease at the back of pads, as it could stop any squeeling. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the post after hammering away at the pins breaking 2 punchs i got the brakes done the longest part of the job was hammering the disks off! I hate working on the floor missing the ramps!
