Changing ML350 for ML420 - what to look for ...

Hi all,

Considering change the family work horse (W163 ML350) for a newer model (W164 ML420 CDI).

- any advice on the W164 on what to look for ?
- any think relating to the 4.0L diesel engine I should be aware of ?

Would love to hear from other ML 420 CDI owners ...

Engine is good. Not had a single issue with it in nearly 3 years of ownership. The fan is a bit loud but that's the only complaint.

Airmatic pump went on mine, HK amp, rear SAM (twice, rain flood) - replaced under warranty. Electric tailgate is a bit of an afterthought on the prefacelift models design wise. Pump gets easily flooded. Improved on facelift, which I would recommend you get (58 reg ownwards).
