Following on from my success in changing the drivers auto dimming door mirror on my W203, I think its about time I fixed the nsf electric window, which hasn't worked for ages.

Basically when you press the window button to go down, nothing happens except a click. the local dealer diagnosed it a while ago and said I needed a new window motor.

Does anyone know whether changing the window motor is an easy diy job? I know how to take the door card off, but what about changing the motor?

If its an easy job I think I might source a window motor and give it a go.

Cheers,

Robbo

Worth a look on benzworld or mbworld.

According to my newly acquired Haynes manual the front door window motor is held in place by 6 rivets which need to drilled out to remove the motor/regulator.
You would need to have a suitable rivet gun to replace I assume.
It doesn't look like a job I would fancy tackling.
Even removing the door card and window glass looks fiddly.
You have to bear in mind when Olly says a job in very straight forward, he may be judging by his highly professional and knowledgeable standards. But its not something I would tackle. I would much rather let someone like Olly do it. At least then you will know its done properly and will work as it should.

Thanks Dave,

Hmm, that sounds a bit too difficult for me to to tackle, unless Nicks how to shows an easier way (Thanks for the pics so far Nick).

Might have to take it down to Olly at some point. It could do with a tranny fluid change too.

Cheers,

Robbo

You only have to drill out some of the rivits, just so you can get at the hidden top bolt, most of the reg and the glass stays in place.

It is pretty straight forward.
