Chapter and Verse on ETA display - W211 COMAND APS

The car was recently serviced. As an additional task, I asked for the COMAND head unit to be zapped with the latest s/w upgrade, so I can see the ETA displayed on the front screen.

Having got the car back, I cannot work out how to get the ETA displayed. I have global position, # of satellites, altitude shown, but no ETA.

Having read through several related threads, should I also be able to see distance to go with this upgrade?

Please can someone take me through it?

Press MAP
Press any of the soft keys on the side of the screen.
Press Display
Press map
Select Distance to destination display.
Press Back

Next time you navigate somewhere it will give you ETA on the bottom of the screen.

I have done as you say, but the options in the 'map view' (in 'display') are limited to '2D north up' or '2D heading up'. Nothing else.

Can I therefore assume that the update a. didn't happen; or b. failed?

Incidentally, I also asked them to set the DVD region to multi-region. We have a load of DVDs for the kids which are region 1 as well as some which are region 2. The garage said that they had attempted to set to '1' (?) and it took effect for 10 mins or so and then reverted back to '2'. Any thoughts on that, please?

Yep, as Miro says, the headunit needs flashing.

The dealers can not set the region to 0 (for region free). Region 1 is USA, so if they set it to Region 1 it can only play Region 1 and not 2 (Europe/Japan)

And, as Miro says, the head unit needs flashing with the latest software

If you are down South ever, i;m sure Alfie can arrange for all this to be done

That was my point - if ETA/dist to go is not visible as an option then the garage can't have tried too hard to update the s/w as I requested. Or they didn't use the latest disc...

I think I might have to go along to one of these GTG's before long and see from the experts exactly what I have got in there!!!

I am interested in what you say about the region coding for the DVD player. I thought Region 0 was indeed a valid option, but there you go.

I'm going to pop back in at the garage later today to see what can be done about the head unit update, and the service interval issue (see separate thread in the Engine section).
