Is there a thread or system for decoding information out of it. Have done it with other cars I own just curious of specs and what's obtainable from the numbers.

Put your Vin# into this website (all 17digits/numbers with no spaces), select English on the language tab and your datacard is produced for you.

that's interesting , its telling me my w211 didn't have a right hand drive engine to drop in so mb used a left hand drive engine and swapped wiring looms .

are you sure that you've understood the datacard ? - The usual message concerning engines is that a new complete engine is not available, but parts must be taken from the old one if an order is placed.
On top of which, no info about repairs is given on the datacards.
