Lot of car for the money.. not driven a 300C but have driven a couple of Dodge Chargers which are the same underneath, not bad for a Yank Tank.

But all of those are missing the magic word - "Hemi" ;)

Cheers,

Gaz

I rented one of these for three weeks in the Summer in Florida, it was a barge with shocking visibility, the A pillar/mirror completely obscured a Lincoln Navigator at a road junction.

I had the Charger for 2 weeks in Florida, it was mince, usual US crap on 4 wheels, 2.7 litre V6 asthmatic engine complete with slush box.

I wouldn't even pay the 'saving' price for one of those!

... obscured a Lincoln Navigator?

And they aren't exactly small

Having said that I quite like the 300C, a lot of car for the money and it's based on a Merc (W210).

Chrysler are leaving these shores, buy one of these and it will be worthless (almost) in 3 years. Based I think on the chassis of an old E class I have driven one for many miles, great on straight roads but not designed for cornering also visibility is less than ideal.

I hire a 300 in Vegas , it mad lots of noise but didn't do much else .
Looks ok , but not a drivers car .
i wouldn't buy one either ....

I thought that too when I hired the Charger, but you would never tell from driving it that Mercedes had ever been involved in any part of it.

Terrible cars. I am always staggered at how backward American cars are in comparison with cars from virtually any other nation on Earth.

I've had 300's as rentals in the USA and I thought they would be a laugh. How wrong was I.

The petrol ones are bad enough, but imagine how sh*t a diesel one is going to be.

CRD? Couldn't have put it better myself.

Was at a taxi rank in Munich with work the other month and frankly annoyed that we ended up in the only non-merc in the rank - it was a 300C. Have to say though it was super luxurious, nice leather, fixtures and fittings and acres of room in the back (not sure if this was some sort of LWB version).

On subsequent days was a passenger in the usual W210 and W211 models and in terms of quality / luxury feel from the interior they were nowhere near the 300C, I was most surprised! To be fair the mercs were much older and probably had astronomical mileages but it goes to show other marques are catching up!

300C has 210 platform, with Merc V6 diesel and well proven Merc 5 speed auto.

And looks like nothing else on the road.

I quite like them.

Same here, rented on in the US recently.....same opinion!
Many of the yank cars are the same - press the "Go" pedal and they make a lot of noise but don't actually do much. I hired a Mustang too - and that was another PoS.

Awful car.

Had one on a test drive - bits had broken on it at 300 miles only. Wouldn't stop. Wouldn't go round corners.

However, I did like the styling (the mesh grill was good) and it had a lot of presence. Probbaly great for low speed cruising or motorways, but certainly not for me living in the sticks.

My point exactly, the visibility is shocking.

Next time I go I'm going to find something interesting to rent rather than anything DOLLAR have.

I quite like them - very 'Sopranos'. But I got talked out of buying one over at A N Other MB forum for most of the reasons mentioned above.
