Sounds okay to me - full history, long MOT, recent service/inspection - new ball joints, plugs etc. Front/rear parktronic, heated rear seats, Bose etc.

They all rust and the wheels always deteriorate - at least this one is honest!

Bargain V8s these AMG '55s IMHO

Hmmm.......time you've had two new front wings fitted and painted, rear arches blasted and painted, wheels refurbed, at least £1500 to do it properly, doesn't seem so much of a bargain when you could have bought my 2001 facelift model with all these issues already sorted for £5500 and new tyres all round! ;)

No cars quite make sense when you work it all out like that. Would you have taken £4000 for your car prior to having the wheels refurbed and the arches painted? ;) (FWIW, I think your car looked pretty good VFM )

I still reckon that it's a cheap car, and those jobs can wait if it's bought by someone on a budget. £4000 is only the asking price after all :)

E55s don't come all that much cheaper from what I've seen.

It does sound cheap,

£1500 to fix the bits... easy if you can do some of the work yourself someone is going to get a cheap car,

My worry with this rust issue though if its like that on the bits you can see what about the bits you cannot see>?

Thing is, they all rust like that. I expect the tidy ones look no better underneath?

Someone might get that for say £3.5k, do the arches privately and get the wheels refurbed in a few months if/when are needed :)

No, I wouldn't have taken £4000 for mine prior to all the work being done and to me its worth more than £5500 now but thats what the market dictates sadly.

I didn't have to pay for the bodywork to be done on mine but the car on ebay is a 98 model so there is no chance of getting MB to do it under goodwill.

I didnt think its was cheap, pre facelfit and its 11 years old.

Nice interior colour scheme though.

Well perhaps I'm in the minority thinking it's quite cheap? :o

Haven't seen many 5.5 AMGs in usable condition for less than £4k though! You can't lose much more cash now I wouldn't have thought?

they are prbably worth that to break :)

designo leather and heated rear seats, wheels and bodykit would see a good half your money back on fleabay.

On the other hand, buy it, run it for a year or two then sell it on - there can't be much depreciation left in it

Good advice, only tricky bit is selling on, nobody seems to want/or can afford to run them at this price level

I think this applies to any large petrol engined vehicle, everywhere i look people are driving tiny cars.

I dont think that running them would put me off buying one . I looked at one a few weeks back and the owner reckoned he was getting low to mid 20s on MPG .When i consider that our 200k onlt gives mid to high 20s ,and my wifes MR2 only gets about 22 MPG , the AMG would not be to hard to run . What wolud put me off buying one is tax . On this car the VRT is over €3000 and then one years motor tax is €1500 . This would mean that I would have to give the Irish gov more then the man selling the car .
