cheap fuses

The new pound shop near my house are selling 30 electrical fuses for £1. They look like the ones in the Merc, and are of the same ratings. They should be fine to use, shouldn't they?
 
Three things can happen..

1) They pop too soon...

2) They work just fine

3) They pop too late...

Given the eccentric nature of vehicle electronics, I'd be paying a bit more and getting them from a dealer.

That's exactly what I thought. But, it is interesting how they can produce them in the far east, pay for transport, taxes, and everyone along the chain make profit, then sell them so cheap.
 
I have to agree with you, but there are so many products in that category.... Clothes, shoes and so on.

The expensive part of the fuse would be the fusible link and the efficiency of the rupture is likely to be compromised in low cost fuses....
