i know its a bit of a cliche butbeen looking on autotrader and it does seem to have some truth about it.

has anybody else found this or being a northener originally am i biased?

I used to think so, but thinking about it 3 out of 5 cars I have bought were from the south, even though there was a long journey to buy / collect.

i've just bought mine up-norf and that was cheaper

It does seem to be the case. Myself, and the rest of my family have all travelled around the country not only as there is little for sale in the south west, but prices vary greatly. Selling down here is good though :D

I think the furthest I have gone so far is Grimsby!

i am currently a resident of lowestoft and a search on autotrader within my price range shows the nearest car is 58 miles away- and its not that rare a car really

It's not 'cheaper', it'. that the vehicles are more reasonably priced ;)

Everything is 58 miles from Lowestoft, not just cars, isn't it?:p

My mate used to work in London in the 80's and came back to Liverpool every couple of weekends. He use to buy cars in Liverpool and sell them down in London, making a few quid, this was before the internet etc making it easy to check prices.
He also says that the best spec cars where down in London, people/companies have/had more money there to spec a car up when new.

Haha, that reminded me of something on the radio, Steve Wright was talking to Joe Pasquale about what he was up to and Pasquale said he was currently doing Panto in Yarmouth, Steve Wright answered "Yarmouth? That's miles away"
Pasquale quickly quipped "Not if you live in Lowerstoft it aint!"

It tickled me! :D

In Norfolk everything is at least an hour away. :(

CLK and E both from shefield
C 202 From Wales
C 203 From Birmingham

I'm from 'the north' and the past 4 mercies bought have been cheaper down south.... Two from near mainstone :)

Areas around london are definately more expensive, traders and dealers there have massive rents and rates. We get a lot of custom from down south!

Cars in Scotland are much cheaper. It's all to do with the subsidies we get from Westminster. Good old Barnett Formula.

I'll get my coat.
