2018MY E63S AMG
Car went into limp mode on drive home from work today. Re-started and everything fine, so into Sport+ mode and a little 'encouragement' to clean things out. Got home, parked up at home, all OK. Got in an hour later to take kids to cinema and CEL comes on, stays on and was still on when re-starting after cinema. Can select drive modes OK (some forums suggest that's symptom of a problem) and car drives OK too. Will have to call dealership tomorrow morning and get the low down/book her in. 6 month old car with 7k on the clock so shouldnt really be any of the usual longer term wear and tear stuff I'd have thought(?)

Hopefully not, a mate of mine recently got rid of his c63 amg one 67 plate as he lost faith in the car after numerous trips to the dealer which to me shouldn’t be happening on a freshly built car especially giving the price of it, now has a 335d which is nice but I’ll never forgive him for getting rid of the merc

Car oK aside from CEL. Drove to/from Bartion Aerodrome car meet today and was driving 'as per normal'. Hopeful it's not as bad as thought. Looking at the other forums (mostly US but also EU ones) and some say it's an ever present 'feature' awaiting a simple siftware update fix. It will be interesting to see my dealer's approach - some replace injectors; others don't . I have booked myself into a dealer who sells plenty of AMG models (it's where I first clapped eyes on an E63S) and is also where I heard 2 mechanics passing my car during a previous visit say to each other "ah another broken one of those" so perhaps they have more of a clue how to rectify than others?!

You cant go on an assumption because without a diagnostic check on the car you know nothing. There are that many sensors on a modern engine its impossible to make a assumption or fix by guesswork, these mechanics probably know that they are prone to mechanical or electrical failure on a number of different issues. id get it into the specialist and get it plugged in and find out for sure what the computer is telling them, if you went by the internet you be aswell doing a full engine rebuild with new sensors on it as there are way to many know it alls the know nothing. Hope it isn't a huge issue but id x off the internet browser on the issue and wait for the specialists definitive outcome and go from there :)

Yeah I know it’s a bit like googling that weird pain in your side which some say is fatal and others just wind LOL
I’m partly trying to convince myself that my 6 month old 100k pride and joy is not going to be out of action for too long I guess :)

let us know how you get on though, hopefully it might even be a free visit to the dealer if its still got 2.5 years warranty left. i assumed it was slightly older, never thought it was only 6 months old

Just back at dealer now. Camshaft actuator popped the fault. On order from Germany so I get a ‘normal’ E to drive round in for a bit. Could have been worse. Hope it cures it.

OK so car now ready for collection. Hopefully this has sorted the issue. Must admit the 800 mile old 68 plate E350d estate they lent me is a pretty good drive too! Surprised me.
