Check engine oil warning

My 2001 CL55 keeps flashing up "check engine oil" but when I check it it says perform at service interval.

Is it common for the sensor to be faulty or should I add a ltr and see if it stops?

Sounds like a faulty sensor,i wouldn't add any oil before getting it checked as an overfill could result.

is it possible to get a dipstick? and how easy are the sensors to change?

MB Dealer? I am sure I have read Screw fix and Ebay is also a place to buy one. Perhaps someone who has bought one could confirm.
