Last time I got in a W124 diesel taxi in Portugal I asked if the 800,000 Kms on the clock was genuine. He said "No, I have to clock it back a bit every year to pay less tax"
Impressive engines.

The car is 15 years old, so that works out at about 43k a year

Which isn't that high TBH. Police cars do >50k/year and a taxi driver told me he does 60k/year.

Neither 50 or 60k per year is much. One of our Guys clocked 275k in 3 years and taxi drivers often do around 100k per year.

Which is why, despite what people say, makes MB still the best car in the world.

Depends on how you define 'best'.

I love the kei cars they sell in Japan, but a lot of the stuff they export to the UK is pretty bland and boring.
